Humor was lame and the story quite advatia. I am only on the second chapter and reached that months ago. I needed a light read after a heavy WW2 novel and this came in handy.

The book has no perspective to offer about urban working women. The chemistry between the main couple was non existent.

And Bathia’s life as a modern woman is small compensation: She works in a 5-star hotel. There is no freshness to the book. Most of them claimed it to be an accurate commentary on urban, single, working Indian ladies – using phrases such as – “you will know advaota lot about what women think”, “it gives you kxla insight into the minds of women, especially those nearing thirties”, “it tells you a lot about relationships” I dine at luxury hotels and stay in five-stars during my travels; I can name old and new world wines with great elan, and can tell my cheeses apart.

What kind of books do you like to read? From my personal experience, I have to disagree with all these exalting statements. The Indian Bridget Jones, only wittier and funnier! Except, here’s the thing: Like all other bollywood flicks even this one has a happy ending.


Refresh and try again. The whole booked is loaded with cliche’s. If you want to read a good multi-cultural book in this genre, I recommend “Veil of Roses” by Almosr Fitzgerald.

One moment she hates him and suddenly they are boyfriend and girlfriend? What do you think of the relationship that Aisha and Karan share? Also, there’s the fact that the book is fast paced. When something bad happens to a character, they express their feelings about it, decide what to do next, and then get over it in less time than it takes other novels to describe the room a character walks into.

Originally published in India, much of the book was lost in translation or more accurately, not translated at all. I would’ve liked to see more of Anushka too – but her story did progress, which was satisfactory. Her mum, cousin and aunty and friends give the right amount of spice to it. Suddenly out of nowhere everything falls into place.
